How to Draw Manga - Some Tips

Japanese style cartoon figures or manga has own the hearts of millions of cartoon fans all over the world. If you are like me you are also a fan of manga style. I enjoy this style of drawing very much. And let me tell you one secret you can have lot more fun by drawing beautiful manga style characters than what you can have just by looking at the art created by others.

And drawing manga is not too difficult either. No matter whether you are an expert artist or a rank beginner you can pick up manga drawing skills with some honest effort.

There are some typical features in a manga style character’s body and face. Once you are aware of these you can create beautiful manga and amaze your friends and family.

In manga style some body parts are exaggerated and some parts are represented using very simple hint-lines. Like, eyes are drawn bigger and expressive and for nose and mouth small lines are used.

Girl’s eyes are larger than boy’s eyes and most of the evil characters are drawn with really small eyes. Body is drawn taller than normal. Limbs are generally thin and long.

When drawing hair you have more than one option --you can draw lots of individual lines to represent hair, or you can use volume hair as if hairs formed a number of thick tubular structures. Both the styles are popular, use which suits your temperament and your characters mood.

Few precautions: when drawing head start with an oval shape and draw the eyes at the half way from the top if you draw the eyes above that level you run risk of ending up with a character with flat looking scalp.

While drawing exaggerated eyes make sure eyes do not cross the cheekbone this is a mistake beginners often make.

Advertising in Video Games Hit a Speed Bump

The publishers of the popular video game “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” are feeling the heat from the Federal Trade Commission as of late. A probe has been launched into the popular video game and this comes on the heels of New York Senator Hilary Clinton and Michigan Congressman Fred Upton urging the US House of Representatives to investigate whether video game publisher “Take Two Interactive Software” intentionally deceived the ratings board to avoid an “Adult Only” rating.

According to reports sex scenes were buried in the video game and this was not told to the Entertainment Software Ratings Board, who have raised the rating from Mature to Adults Only.

As of now retailers such as Circuit City, Best Buy and even Wal-Mart have since ceased selling the video game and removed it from their shelves.

Will the latest scandal be the end of “Advergaming”?

It’s doubtful, the video game industry is an $11 billion dollar industry that reaches one of the most evasive demographics, males between the ages of 17 to 35.

“Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” is a very popular video game but it’s one of hundreds that hit the shelves every year. It just so happens that due to their actions they will bring stricter laws to the table and make it more difficult to get a PG rating for action games.

Though marketers may have been scared off, and for good reason, they should not discount the potential value of embedding their brand within video games. Instead of abandoning the medium, marketers may want to be more selective in what video games they associate their brand with. No brand wants to be involved in controversy especially when it relates to pornographic material being embedded in a video game.

Marketers may want to do more research into the video game before jumping in headfirst. They need to perform their due diligence which includes looking at past video games published by a particular company and previewing the game itself.

In short, “Advergaming” is only in the beginning stages and will more than likely grow in popularity in the near future. This is a hurdle that the video game industry needs to overcome, but as with anything you can’t judge an industry by the actions of one company.

Do Video Games Lead to Violence or Not?

Like the debate that has been raging for years on whether violence in movies and T.V. causes violent behavior in people, especially our youth seems to have spilled over onto the video game industry. And like the difference in opinions being debated over violence in the movie and T.V. industry, the argument over violence in video games has split into two camps. One camp say's that violent video games definitely is a catalyst in causing more violent behavior in people; especially kids. While the other camp say's there is no correlation between watching violent video games and violent behavior.

Remarkably, both sides agree that some video games have educational value while others are very helpful with aiding the sick, especially in physical therapy. While they do acknowledge the benefits to humanity, the naysayer's are quick to point out that the best selling video games have always been and will always be the games that promise sex and violence. Although there is a rating system for video games similar to the movie and T.V. industry, studies have shown that ratings that exclude children tend to draw them to those forbidden games like moths to a flame.

Studies done in 2001 show that of the 70 top selling video games that were reviewed, 49 percent of them contained serious violence. While opponents of video games are quick to point out that the two teenagers that committed mass-murder at Columbine High School were avid players of the violent video game Doom. The proponents of video games can point out any number of teenagers that play violent video games who are outstanding students and citizens. There was a study done of 75 people who played a violent video game on an average of about 60 hours in a month's time. The conclusion showed that there was absolutely zero escalation of violent behavior in the 75 participants during that time.

In conclusion, this writer finds that the "war" between the proponents and opponents of violent video games will rage on for years to come. Studies will continue to be done by both sides in an attempt to discredit each others conclusions and in the end, all they will succeed in doing is confuse the public. I believe that if a person is going to commit a violent act, then that person already had the propensity to commit violence all along. Where violent video games are sometimes blamed as being the catalyst for violent acts being committed, who is to really say it was not something else. Charles Manson blamed it on the Beatles song "Helter Skelter", while the "Son of Sam," David Berkowitz blamed it on a black Lab named "Sam." In the end, as long as children develop moral values and are given guidance and love by their parents or parent, then all of the violent video games in the world would not have a negative affect on them. GAME ON!

I live in Largo, Florida where I work for the states largest Power Company. I currently have two websites, one being http://www.moviesmusicgamesandmore.com/ and I also have a Squidoo lens: http://www.squidoo.com/game-download-sites-review . I enjoy writing articles on different subjects as a hobby and I am currently writing (ever so slowly) an epic fantasy novel.

Old Video Games

Over the last three decades, video games have evolved as one of the best forms of entertainment and have grown immensely in popularity. Video games serve as one of the best means for spending time with loved ones or simply having fun with friends. The modern trend of video game popularity was not always visible. Conventional designs for video games were sluggish and unattractive and had more of a scientific value rather than entertainment value. Initial designs for video games focused on creating a video display using interactive visuals complemented by in game responses and feedback as the game continued.

Recent video games incorporate quality 3D animation and graphic detail, with excellent game play. Old video games on the other hand, had comparatively poor graphics and relied more on game play for success in the market.

The genre of old video games corresponds to games that used 8-bit and 16-bit microchips. Most of the old video games were introduced in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Video games such as Mario, Super Mario, Contra, Street Fighter, Packman series and so on were extremely popular in these years. Some are even played today due to their brilliant game play and excellent story line.

Old video games are generally played on game consoles from Sega, Atari and other game consoles. Some can be played on arcade machines and on computers. These video games are played today, using emulation software on computers. Emulation is however attracts a fair bit of controversy as the software used for emulation may be illegally copied.

Old video games can be availed of online on a plethora of websites offering the same for download. The file size for these video games is usually small and can be downloaded for free. Some rare video games may however require prior payment for download. Search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, and MSN can be used to obtain links and sites offering downloads of old video games. Old video games can also be acquired from select vendors at different parts of the country.

Online Video Games

People of all age groups use video games. It is a popular form of entertainment and some people feel that they are useful in relieving stress. Others simply play for fun. Implementation of latest technology and designing has helped create multitudes of user-friendly video games. The availability is so vast that it is not possible for individuals to own all of these games.

Most online video games sites allow players to play the great ?80s classics online. These games still prove to be entertaining as game designs are continuously emulated. These hardware or software modifications allow the reproduction of the same data, execute the same programs and achieve the same results as the original games.

Online video games are mostly available in the form of a popup. At times this can be disturbing for an Internet user. However, for a video game enthusiast these windows offer the perfect opening. At times, these online video games are simple in nature and can even be played alongside work.

Online video games are mostly designed to acquire prospective clients. A good number of games allow players to complete initial levels. However, the next levels need to be downloaded in exchange for a fee. Online video games are considered to be excellent advertising strategies for video game businesses.

The Internet has also facilitated online video game rentals. These services are many and players may want to discuss before deciding upon a service provider.

It is also possible to download these games. Some services are free while others require fixed charges. Online video games are also free from deterioration. Unlike most video game CDs, these are installed on the computer and saved in a file. This makes the games easily accessible and people do not have to create storage space.

Video Game Tester

As a video game tester you will get paid to play video games, get paid to play unreleased video games before they come out, get free copies of video games, get access to cheat codes, level secrets, and other bugs that only game testers know about, get real world experience working with company departments and learn about the development, marketing, manufacturing, customer service, and testing phases of each game.

Video game testers get paid to play games and tell the developers what they think of the video games. The great thing is that you get to keep the video games you test. So, why would developers pay game testers to test video games. Video game developers sink millions of dollars into their video games and releasing a video game with bugs or a game that no one will play or return could cost them a lot of money. Video game testers help developers fix bugs and video games before they are released to the public. How do you qualify to become a video game tester. There are actually job posting on various developer sites that require you only have the video game system and be eighteen years old. Some video game testers work nine to five and some work part time, so there is really no limit to how many video games you could test or how long. It just depends on how much time a video game tester is willing to invest in testing video games.

Finding the right video game developer websites offering video game tester jobs can be very difficult, but they are out there. Some video game testers have done all of the searching for you. You just pay them a small fee to get all of the information. Click Here to access a video game tester website, which shows you how to become a video game tester.

Anime Bath - A Very Unique & Individual Approach to Bathroom Decor

Anime bath can mean a bathroom decorated with one or more anime bath characters from a whole range of character figures. Characters like the Flash or Batman or Superman for folks who like their anime bath characters from a farther back period. Current anime bath characters could include Trigun Vash or Wolfwood from the classic 1998 anime series.

Your bathroom décor can reflect just about any side of your personality, any of your "likes" such as anime bath accessories. Doing a search online for anime bath accessories using the name of your preferred character can result in some interesting results. For instance, I was able to find a set of Trigun Vash or Wolfwood bath towels. Now, what bathroom is complete without a set of these anime bath accessories?

Although one would probably think of children's bathrooms first when thinking of an anime bath, there are a number of adults whose "Football Team" accessorized bathrooms would qualify as an anime bath. And how about "Wrestling Fan" anime bath or "NASCAR Fan" anime bath?

The range of characterizations that can be represented in your unique anime bath are endless. If you like a popular figure, either "real" or animated, you can probably find accessories in that figure's image and this certainly qualifies you as having an anime-influenced bath.

Children's bathrooms are probably more suited as anime baths. Their heros are probably of an animated variety, thus making the concept of children's bathrooms more likely to be decorated and furnished as anime baths. If you are decorating a bathroom for a child, you will definitely score major points for creating anime baths in their favourite character's image.

What a marvellous result - a happy child - with something so creative yet so simple as a present of an anime bath!

Free Anime Movies

The term "Anime" refers to Japanese animation movies, sometimes called as Japanimation. Japanese comics called Manga heavily influence Anime movies. They are made of bright colors and stylized images with variety of settings and storylines. They cater to a large and varied audience all over the world.

The term Japanimation preceded Anime but has now fallen to disuse. Earlier, in the1970’s and 1980’s the term was common. But in 1990’s, animation movies reached worldwide market, so Japanimation refers now only to domestic animation. In Europe, Japanese animation is also called as Manga after the Japanese comics.

Osamu Tezuka’s “Astro Boy” in 1963 was the first popular Anime series. In the 1970’s the Japanese animation industry split from its Western roots and started unique genres like Giant Robots. The 1980’s saw a boom in anime production and 1990’s and 2000’s saw the rising popularity of anime in the overseas market. In 2003, Spirited Away won the Oscar for best animated feature.

Anime covers a wide range of genres like science fiction, romance, live action, fantasy, erotica, adventure, and even social commentary. Most Animes come in three formats-films, television series and original video animation. Films are released in theatres and have the highest budgets and the best video quality. Popular Anime films include Akira and Spirited Away. A television series is syndicated and broadcast on T.V. and an original animated video is similar to a made for TV movie.

There’s is a controversy around fan subs that are Animes subtitled by fans and released for download through Bit Torrent and distributed for free. Also problematic are bootleg versions of Animes from Southeast Asia.

Free Anime movies are available at a few sites that allow free downloads of several types of movies or are exclusively dedicated to Anime movies. For example, a new site called Anime Monarchy is a one-stop site for free shows like Pokemon and movie downloads like Kiki’s Delivery Service, Anime games and Anime lyrics. Besides these, Anime Collections.com, 1StopMovies.com and TV Central have free Anime movie downloads.

Akatsuki: Who Are They?

Author : Kunoichi warrior

Who are the Akatsuki? What do they want? These are questions that can be answered with a little research, so I did some and this is what I found.

Akatsuki, meaning dawn or daybreak, is a criminal organization made of nine S-rank ninja. The Akatsuki extract demons from the people that hold them. They are separated into two-man teams, each going after a demon. (Example: Gaara and Naruto.) They were first introduced in Chapter: 139, episode: 80, when Itachi and Kisame were after Naruto.

The Members wear black cloaks with red clouds, paint their nails and wear rings that they use to extract the demons. In addition, the village headband has a line right through it to symbolize a broken connection between the person and the village. Below is some information of some members that I know.

Akatsuki Leader:
You don't exactly see his face, but it is rumored that he is the Fourth Hokage because of his outline.

Itachi Uchiha:
Captain of Akatsuki. He killed his clan, leaving his little brother Sasuke alive. He possesses the Mangekyo Sharingan and is paired with Kisame.

Kisame Hoshigaki:
One of the Seven Shinobi Swordsmen of the Hidden Mist Village. He looks half-shark and is paired with Itachi Uchiha.

Deidara:
A skillful fighter of the Hidden Rock Village, he has mouths in the palms of his hands. He and Sasori were chosen to extract the demon from Gaara. After Sasori's death, he was paired with a new Akatsuki member, Tobi.

Sasori:
A puppet master from the Hidden Sand Village. His grandmother was the one that placed the demon inside of Gaara. After Gaara's death, his grandmother gave up her life to resurrect Gaara. Sasori was killed by Sakura.

Zetsu:
Not much is known about Zetsu, except that he is from the Hidden Grass Village and that he can blend into Grass, and trees. The right side of his body is black, while the other side is white.

Hidan:
He is the slowest attacker in Akatsuki, but he and his partner, Kakuzu, easily defeat the two tailed demon cat. He seems to belong to the Hidden Rain Village and to a certain religion in which killing is encouraged.

Kakuzu:
A fighter from the Hidden WaterFall Village. He is the tallest member and is in love with money and will do anything to get it. He is pissed off with Hidan, and unfortunately, paired with him.

Tobi:
He has a very formal and correct manner of speech and wanted to fill in Sasori's position in Akatsuki after he had died. To his luck he was eventually let in Akatsuki as Deidara tells him how a member of Akatsuki is supposed to act.

Fans of Naruto believe that Obito Uchiha, despite being deceased, is Tobi. This is because of the similarity of name between Tobi and Obito. It is also believed Obito and Tobi are the same person because the apparent mechanization of parts of Tobi's body correspond to the injuries Obito suffered when last seen. In particular, Tobi wears a mask that directs attention to his one working eye. Obito had, in his dying moments, let his other eye be surgically extracted and implanted into his friend Kakashi.

It's unknown if and how Obito would have become Tobi, but at the time of Obito's apparent death, Akatsuki had at least two members who were highly skilled at the preservation of a body's abilities after death; Orochimaru and Sasori. Fans speculate that if he is in fact Tobi, he could be the third Mangekyō Sharingan user that Itachi had mentioned.

Unnamed Akatsuki Member:
Nothing is known about this member, except that she is most probably female because of the flower in her blue hair.

Former Members:

Orochimaru:
He fled Akatsuki in fear of Itachi's power. The ring could still be seen on Orochimaru's original body.

Subordinates:

Kabuto:
He worked as Sasori's spy, but was also secretly working for Orochimaru. Deidara tells Sasori that one of his spies is a traitor. It appears Kabuto is the traitor.

What’s Your Problem?

Author : Katana

When a show gets licensed, fans are the first to complain. In fact, you could even say the motto of some fans is ‘complain as much as you can’. Voice work is one of the first things to go up to the chopping block, but another one receives even more speculation – content.

What will happen to the violence? The blood? The language? What’s gonna happen to sexual references and jokes, or nudity itself?

Remember Naruto, when it was announced that the popular ninja series was licensed? Fans and the anime press went into a frenzy. How would Viz treat the show? Would they get rid of Japanese words, like jutsu, or even cut out Naruto’s Sexy no Jutsu? And what about the blood? Ninjas fight a lot, and therefore, bleed a lot.

Well, it turned out our worries were put to rest.
Naruto, at least in its Toonami block, aired with a TV-PG rating, instead of the usual TV-Y7. Instead of “Fantasy Violence”, it typically garners up a real rating “Violence”, and even then some.
And even then, people complain.

The other day, I was talking to a friend of mine – an avid anime fan. We somehow got onto the topic of Naruto, and he said something along the lines of, “Naruto just doesn’t cut it for me.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, there’s the missing language and some blood gets cut out.”

This launched me into a question that every anime fan needs to ask his or herself.

“So what are you looking for in the series? If you like the anime for the fact that it’s about ninjas, has awesome fight scenes, displays strong bonds between people, and is about the trials of growing up, then you would like the series no matter how much blood or language is removed. Or are you just there for the blood and little kiddies swearing?”

His reply? “…Good point.”

By now, you’re probably saying to the monitor, ‘I like the series no matter what!’ But before you yell at me for doubting your fandom, I’ve got another problem to throw out at you.
One Piece.
What could’ve been the big hit before Naruto came, One Piece was a show licensed by 4Kids, the single company known for its horrible editing techniques. They’re motto (according to us), ‘Make it seem as if its Japanese existence never was’ has earned the wrath of many a fan. With their signature of changing Japanese names to English ones, erasing any foreign cultural references, changing all weapons to toys or lasers, and ripping out the original score and recomposing the entire show’s music, a series is undoubtedly doomed if licensed by this company.

But let’s create a new scenario – well, at least, a slightly better one. What if 4Kids had given One Piece great voice actors, kept the original names, music, and cultural references, but still kept the fake weapons, no blood, and no language? (In other words, this would mean getting licensed by a company, like, say, Viz.) Would you like it then? It’s a real toss-up.

Many series that have been licensed – by companies other than 4Kids – have received this sort of treatment. One of the best examples might just be the DragonBall series.
Sure, many fans just cringe at the name – the bajillion episode long epic of psychotically ripped fighters who continuously fight for the Earth or some other random planet.
And yet, for being a series licensed in anime’s relatively early days, it did a decent job of not being too harshly edited. Sure, the blood was edited out, but it had to fit the TV-Y7 rating. Other than that, names remained the same, what little culture references there were pretty much left in tact, and the music didn’t seem to suffer.

By now, however, you might be thinking to yourself, “What’s up with all these edits anyhow? In Japan, Detective Conan (Case Closed) is a family show. Yet here, it barely made it to Adult Swim. What’s up with that?”
The answer? Culture. Culture culture culture. I can’t stress it enough.

As far as my knowledge goes, the United States and Europe have general clashes when it comes to movie content. While the US allows violence but shuns nudity, the general European populace allows nudity but shuns violence.
In that aspect, the way the Japanese raise their children is totally different than the way Americans raise theirs. In Japan, children are introduced to the themes of violence and death relatively early in life, providing them a portal to the real world and what reality is like. In the US, though, parents nowadays want to protect their children from these ‘mature’ themes from them as long as possible.

“Nowadays?” you wonder. “What do you mean…now?”

Like the general populace of theOtaku, the main part of my childhood took place in the ‘90s. Oh how I remember shows like Sesame Street, which had an episode dedicated to explaining death to a child, the rather edgy cartoon Ren and Stimpy, and live-action thriller shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark?. As lame as these examples may sound (mainly the latter two), those types of shows are in relative obscurity these days. You may find an episode airing in the rather-dead 1:00pm timeslot, but chances are slim. Hardly any shows such as those two are being made today.

So what is the answer to the age-old anime question, “What’s with the edits?” Quite simply, it’s the way children are raised. As each generation grows older and has children, they feel a need to protect them and shelter them from the cold harshness of reality. Death and violence are themes today’s parents don’t want their precious children to know about until they’re much older.

But on the flip side…you’ve got Toonami.

Toonami has recently been airing shows intended for an audience of older children and teenagers – kids who grew up with the programming block and want to stick with it. Naruto has become a smash hit, with Mattel churning out toys and ninja accessories for these ninja-addicted kids. Naruto has been the highest-rated show on the block, and rightfully so. Besides being a plain awesome show, it appeals to the older audience who are tired of kiddy shows and need some action, but caters to the kids for the ‘cool’ factor.

I-GPX also pushed the boundaries for Toonami, which is probably why it earned the latest timeslot in the program (until of late). In the last episode of the first season, there came the first swear. And come season two, the swears kept coming, making even myself raise some eyebrows. I-GPX, which, although doesn’t contain any real violence, contained some themes parents probably didn’t like all too much.

And lest we forget – Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo has also teetered between being a Y7 and PG show. Even though few seem to publicly like it, the show has done well enough to stay on the bock. This may be one of the best examples of an impossible-to-succeed show. With kanji thrown out a mile a minute and tons of Japanese references, Bobobo-bo takes 4Kids’s theories about editing and –

(The previous sentence was stopped for content purposes. The writer apologizes, but she says you can use your imagination.)

But back to the main question…When you watch an edited show, what do you expect from it? If you watched it in fansub form – complete with violence, blood, and the language – how high are your hopes for the dub?

Sit and think about the answer to this question: When you watch an anime airing in a timeslot meant for pre-teens and the like, what are looking for? Do you want a series with an excellent story and animation? Or are you just there for the bloodbath, language, and violence? The answer is up to you.
